Teams go back to fix performance and correctness

Discord is ditching Electron, and its new app uses less RAM. Go shipped a new JSON API, encoding/json/v2, which commenters mostly welcomed, though one missed MarshalIndent and another disliked that Marshal returns an error at all. TScert proposes a sound core for TypeScript, answering the long-standing complaint that TypeScript's type system pretends JavaScript works in ways it does not. Even a thread on partial operator precedence got attention, with people saying languages have too many precedence levels because that is easier to implement.

None of this is flashy. It is the unglamorous work of making the base layer less wasteful and less surprising, and it happens as AI makes it cheaper to rewrite things.

A caution came from one commenter who said it is hard to trust Go again after the multipath TCP debacle, a reminder that new defaults can bring their own regressions.

So what?

A major consumer app leaving Electron shows that resource bloat now costs users, and rivals can use it against you. If your product ships on a heavy runtime, check how it compares on memory before a competitor builds the lighter version.
