The short version

The Lede collects as little as possible. If you join the waitlist we keep your email so we can tell you when the newsletter launches. We use privacy-friendly analytics to understand what's useful. We do not sell your data, ever.

What we collect

  • Email address — only if you join the waitlist. We store it so we can email you when the daily Lede launches.
  • Usage analytics — we use PostHog to see which pages and trends are read, so we can improve the product. This is aggregate behavioral data, not tied to your identity unless you create an account.
  • Standard server logs — like most sites, our host records basic request data (IP, user agent, timestamps) for security and reliability.

How we use it

To send you the newsletter you asked for, to understand which content is worth doing more of, and to keep the site running and secure. That's it.

Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent your data. We rely on a few service providers to operate, who process data on our behalf: PostHog (product analytics), Railway (hosting), and, once the newsletter launches, an email delivery provider. Each only receives what they need to do their job.

Your choices

You can ask us to delete your email or any data we hold about you at any time, and we'll do it. When the newsletter launches, every email will include a one-click unsubscribe.
