This is a different angle on AI coding tools than the usual 'will it replace developers' frame. What's coming through in the comments is that Claude Code is lowering the activation energy for building to the point where people who had stopped, or never started, are now shipping. That's a real behavioral change.
The counterpoint in the same thread: one person said spending two days primarily using Claude instead of coding themselves felt 'so unfulfilling,' comparing it to getting an A on a test you cheated on. Both reactions are real. The tool doesn't produce the same experience for everyone.
So what?
The population of people who can now build and ship software is expanding, and it includes a lot of domain experts who previously couldn't get past the implementation barrier. That's both a competitive threat and a distribution opportunity for founders who understand specific verticals. The customer who can now build their own tool is also the customer who might pay for yours if you're 10x better.
